American Dipper (Cinclus mexicanus)

Vidae Falls, Crater Lake National Park, Oregon, USA

Photo Taken: February 12, 2006

Photograph by Robert Mutch

Photo Number: WB0568

It was while photographing Vidae Falls during a overcast afternoon that I saw this American Dipper (or Water Ouzel and a favorite animal of John Muir) working his way up the stream. I had my big wildlife lens within easy reach and it was just a matter of a few seconds and I was happily taking my first Water Ouzel photographs. Often times, if you just spend enough time outdoors, you will see a lot of things.  -- Robert Mutch
