Appointment of Frank A. Kittredge as regional director of the National Park Service, with his headquarters remaining in San Francisco, was announced today by Secretary of the Interior Harold Ickes.

Kittredge has been chief engineer of the Park Service for the last 10 years. His new jurisdiction covers National parks in California, Oregon, Washington, Nevada, Idaho, and the western sections of Utah and Montana.

The following transfers were announced: David H. Canfield, superintendent of Crater Lake National Park to Rocky Mountain National Park; Ernest P. Leavitt, Lassen Volcanic National Park to Crater Lake National Park; John C. Preston, assistant superintendent of Rocky Mountain Park, to Lassen National Park.
