Land Obtained By Nature Lovers

WASHINGTON (AP) - The National Park Service says two nature-lovers have
contributed $3,500 for federal-government acquisition of privately-owned land
inside Glacier National Park
Of 1,013,129 acres the Montana park 15,642 are still privately owned. The
Glacier Natural History association was incorporated last December to acquire
these parcels as they become available and hold them until title can be
transferred to the federal government
The park service said the Glacier association received $3000 from Miss Frank
R Oastler, New York and $500 from Dr George C Ruhle, a Kankakee, Ill., native
who is park naturalist at Crater Lake National park, Oregon.
Mrs. Oastler is the widow of a noted conservationist, one of the first white
men to explore the Surprise Pass area of Glacier National park 'Oastler's
Castle' a striking formation in Bryce Canyon National Park Utah, was named for
her husband.
Dr Ruhle formerly was a Glacier National park naturalist.
