Chuck Lundy, who retired
earlier this month after a 35-year National Park Service career
that included more than nine years as superintendent at Crater
Lake National Park, was honored at a Saturday night dinner at
Oregon Institute of Technology.
Lundy received a Congressional
citation from Rep. Greg Walden, who made a presentation before
going to the Klamath County Chamber of Commerce’s annual
banquet, and a letter from Sen. Gordon Smith.
Walden credited Lundy for
his work with the park’s 2002 Centennial, creation of the Crater
Lake Trust, the Crater Lake license plate and several park
improvement projects at Rim Village and Mazama Village,
bathometric mapping of the lake, and the long-wanted relocation
of the Rim Village parking area.
Among other presentations
was a Crater Lake photograph given to Lundy by the Crater Lake
Trust, a group he helped to create.
