CRATER LAKE NATIONAL PARK (AP) - A Grants Pass man walking on snow shoes got too close to the rim of Crater Lake Sunday and fell in.

Feared lost in the water far below was Nick Carlino, 30.

Park Supt. Einar Johnson said the accident occurred about 3:30 p.m. when Carlino was snowshoeing about 200 yards from the cafeteria at the south rim of the lake.

Searchers Sunday were unable to sight Carlino and it was feared he went all the way down the steep drop into the lake.

A Josephine County rescue team headed by Bill Pruitt of Grants Pass continued the search Monday.
