Obituaries: Lucy Eda Meyer

The funeral for Lucy Eda Meyer will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at
Conger-Morris Chapel in Medford. Interment will be at 10 a.m.
Monday at Eagle Point National Cemetery.
Mrs. Meyer, 98, of Medford, died Monday (Sept. 11, 2000) in
Medford.
She was born March 12, 1902, above Shady Cove and Trail, the
daughter of Daniel and Rosetta Foeller. As a teenager, she
worked as a "day maid" at Crater Lake National Park for two
years during the summer. In high school, she worked as a nanny
for the Hart and Phipps families.
On June 10, 1923, she married Walter C. Schmidt, who died in
1969.
On June 5, 1970, in Jacksonville, she married Edward J. Meyer,
who died in 1982.
She and her first husband, Walter, owned and operated a commercial fruit and produce farm near the spot where Witham Truck Stop now stands.
As a lifetime resident of the Rogue Valley, she had many
relatives in the Johnson Family Cemetery in Shady Cove.
Mrs. Meyer was a founding member of the 50+ Club.
She enjoyed gardening, dancing and playing cards.
Survivors include a daughter, Caroline Schmidt-Hacker, Port
Angeles, Wash.; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Charlie Foeller; and two
sisters, Eula Salter and Sadie Kingsley.
Friends may pay their respects from 3 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at
Conger-Morris in Medford.
