Obituaries: 'Jack' Donald Coleman

The funeral for Jackson "Jack" Donald Coleman will be at noon Friday in Calvary Baptist Church in Ashland. Pastors Gordon Robinson and Stephen Jones will officiate. Private interment will be in Eagle Point National Cemetery.

Mr. Coleman, 85, of Ashland, died Sunday (Nov. 7, 1999) at his home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church, Men's Sunday School Class, 2082 East Main St., Ashland, OR 97520.

He was born March 28, 1914, in Heavener, Okla., a son of Arthur E. and Mary R. (Shedd) Coleman. His family moved to Clarkdale, Ariz., in 1916.

In 1936, he moved to Chiloquin, where he worked delivering supplies to park headquarters at Crater Lake National Park.

During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1945 as part of an amphibious assault unit in the South Pacific.

In 1945, he married Lola Crouse, who survives.

Mr. Coleman and his brother leased and operated a Union Oil service station in Klamath Falls from 1945 to 1970. He moved to Ashland in 1970 following his retirement.

He was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church in Ashland.

Mr. Coleman enjoyed fishing with his grandchildren.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two children, David and Deborah Coleman, both Ashland; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.
