CRATER LAKE - Rehabilitation work will be done on 7.7 miles of
the West Entrance Road, also known as the Highway 62, from
Crater Lake National Park's west boundary to the Mazama
intersection in the park.
Superintendent Chuck Lundy said the proposal includes repairing
distressed areas, re-establishing drainages, culvert
replacement, improving two switchback curves, and restoration of
the road surface.
Once completed, he said the project would restore the road while
decreasing maintenance work, improving the driving experience
for the public and increasing the road's serviceable life.
Construction could begin next spring.
An environmental assessment for the proposed project is
available for review on the Web at www.nps.gov.C RLA. A paper
copy of the environmental assessment may be obtained by calling
Lundy at 594-3002 or by sending an e-mail to CRLA
superintendent@nps.gov, or by writing Lundy at P.O. Box 7,
Crater Lake, OR 97604.
