John Wesley Hillman leaves Oregon for Hope Villa, Louisiana. He planed to be away for only a short time, but found that the warm climate lessened the pain of his shattered knee. He had been wounded in the Rogue Indian Wars of the 1850’s and the wound remained open the duration of his life.
