Whitebark Pines in Peril at Crater Lake

Commissioned in 2007, this painting by Larry Eifert shows the importance of whitebark pines (left and right sides of the painting). These trees are in trouble due to several factors, including an introduced blister rust pathogen, Global Warming and the pine bark beetle. It’s estimated that most of these beautiful and important trees will be gone from the park’s rim within several decades. Painting is acrylic on hardboard, 36″ x 60″.
