Elevation: 5,000 to 6,500 feet

Average annual precipitation: 30 to 60 inches

Average annual air temperature: 38 to 42 degrees F

Frost-free period: 0 to 50 days

 

Map Unit Composition

 

Badland: 70 percent

Stirfry and similar soils: 25 percent

Minor components: 5 percent

Geomorphic position: Base of side slopes of ravines, and stream terraces

Parent material: Mossy organic material over pumice and ash

Restrictive features: None within a depth of 60 inches

Depth to mineral soil: 40 to 60 inches

Drainage class: Very poorly drained

Permeability: Moderately rapid

Flooding: Not present

Water table: Present (see table 20)

Ponding: Not present

Available water capacity: About 8.5 inches
