Volcano and Earthquake Hazards in the Crater Lake Region, Oregon

 

Events of High Consequence but Low Probability

Three types of events that may be considered possible at Crater Lake but very unlikely in the next few centuries are a large pyroclastic eruption, sudden release of lethal CO2 from the lake, and catastrophic draining of the lake.
