At the completion of my second year at Stanford Medical School I accepted a position as Seasonal Ranger-Naturalist at Crater Lake N.P. It was a wonderful summer in which I had duties at the Sinnott Memorial Overlook, evening programs at the Lodge and at campgrounds, leading nature walks, and later in the season acting as naturalist guide on the bus trips around the rim.
