Activity Type:
Other
Subject/Discipline:
Fish / Ichthyology
Objectives:
Restore native bull trout to
historic distribution in Sun Creek, remove non-native brook trout, and prevent
re-invasion of non-native species in the future.
Findings and Status:
The number of adult bull trout
appeared to decline in 1993. An increase in adults would not be expected,
however, until 1994 or 1995 as the reproductive year classes grow to adult size.
Young of the year were not enumerable using non-destructive sampling techniques.
The bull trout peer review panel met again in the fall of 1993. The panel
reviewed the recovery strategy and concluded that recovery efforts have not
negatively effected the bull trout population. It remains to be seen if the bull
trout status was discovered early enough for recovery efforts to be effective.
For this study, were one or
more specimens collected and removed from the park but not destroyed during
analyses?
No
