Objectives:
The main objective is to
determine the relative amounts of crustal versus mantle material incorporated
into magmas rising through the crustal column in continental arc systems. Lassen
Volcanic NP occupies the southern end of the Cascade range and the volcanic
rocks found there represent mantle derived magma rising through crustal
material.
Findings and Status: Field work was
conducted during the summer of 1998, with thirteen samples collected. Samples
are currently being processed and prepared for isotopic analysis.
