Description

One of the world's largest volcanic domes, Lassen Peak dominates a landscape that contains nearly every kind of volcanic feature known. See a land repeatedly torn by powerful eruptions, yet softened by lush forest, wildflowers, and diverse animals.

Approximately 329 years ago, one of the volcanic dacite domes of the Chaos Crags collapsed. The resulting massive rockfall avalance created the Chaos Jumbles which today is still in early stages of recovery.

Lassen Volcanic National Park, located in northeastern California, was established in 1916 to protect active volcanism including hot springs, steaming fumaroles, mud pots, and sulfurous vents.

Each book in this series tells a compelling story through the eyes of an experienced interpreter whose writing reflects true enthusiasm for the park. Complete with running text and interpretive captions, accompanied by abundant full-color photographs, these books will be welcome in any home library.
