About the Author

William C. Tweed, a career professional of the National Park Service, received his doctorate in history from Texas Christian University. He has spent more than 25 years exploring Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. Captions by Malinee Crapsey, who has been involved with protecting our public lands since 1979, working for land management agencies in Montana, Idaho, Washington, and California. She joined the National Park Service in 1985.
