Description

During storms, when clouds shroud Crater Lake, Oregon, a ghostly ship appears adrift on the Sea of Silence. Geologically, the Phantom Ship is part of a ridge of andesitic lava extending from the caldera wall - a remnant of Phantom Cone volcano, whose rocks are among the oldest in the Park, about 400,000 years.
