Fatal crash closes Highway 97
December 29, 2006
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – A fatal traffic crash has closed down Highway 97, about 15 miles south of the Diamond Lake junction.
Police say there are at least two confirmed deaths and other serious injuries have been reported.
The Oregon Department of Transportation says there are no suitable detours, and that the road could be closed for some time.
Motorists are advised not to use Crater Lake area highways due to winter conditions. Some of the roads in the area have not yet been plowed.
