Study Ending Date: Jan 01, 1999

Study Status: Completed

Subject/Discipline: Other

Objectives: Develop large scale vegetative propagation and seedling propagation protocols. 2) Determine the physical and biological factors significant to the establishment success f c. mazama. 3) Develop photographic monitoring protocols for long-term monitoring of populations. 4) Develop educational materials for both the general public and park personnel. (abundance) in colonies.

Findings and Status:  Large scale vegetative propagation and seedling propagation are being developed. Cloned material has been successfully propagated and planting will occur in the Fall 1997. Stereo photo plots were established, and black and white, color and IR film was evaluated. Identification was easiest on black and white film, with 100% accuracy rate in placing individuals into one of four demographic stage classes.;30 individuals of C. mazama are currently located in the Micropropagation Laboratory at the University of Idaho. These individuals are being vegetatively propagated for restoration efforts in Fall 1997 and Spring 1998. These individuals will then be placed in the University of Idaho Herbarium (ID), Moscow, ID 83843.

For this study, were one or more specimens collected and removed from the park but not destroyed during analyses? No
